We're proud of Kelsey Osborne for following through on her fundraising goal. The recent Gig Harbor High School graduate started an ambitious project last year to raise $250,000 to name the oncology center at St. Anthony Hospital after her father, David Osborne, who died of colon cancer about a year ago.
We highlight a number of high school senior projects throughout the course of an academic year, and Osborne’s stood out as one of the more spectacular. She took a subject very close to her heart and went well beyond any kind of project requirements.
Too often we hear of teenagers who don’t contribute to society, but we’re lucky to live in an area where students — more often than not — look for ways they can make a positive impact. Congratulations, Kelsey.
