Terese Garrett-Miller’s children grew up riding scooters and walking dogs on the downtown waterfront.
“I’ve always enjoyed the downtown area,” she said.
Now, Garrett-Miller is opening a second location of Bella Kitchen & Home at 3311 Harborview Drive.
The store specializes in premier kitchenwares from the United States and Europe. There is also a one-of-a-kind dining room, and housewares as well.
The store’s flagship location is in Uptown Gig Harbor. Garrett-Miller said the beginning of the store was “serendipitous.” It was a market that was ripe in the city.
“I felt there was a need for this type of store in Gig Harbor,” she said.
In 2012, Garrett-Miller won the Rising Star award, handed out by the Association of Women-owned Businesses.
Bella is now heading into its fifth year in business.
The Uptown location will remain open, giving consumers the option for where to shop.
The new store takes over the building that once housed the Harbor Peddler. It’s among other new tenants in downtown.
The antique store The Weathered Cottage moved to Harborview Drive last month. Heritage Distilling is set to open a new tasting room on the corner of Harborview Drive and Pioneer Way.
The plan is to hold a grand opening for Bella Kitchen & Home during Maritime Gig weekend, Garrett-Miller said.
The store has made a few remodeling moves. There’s now a window in the back with a view of the harbor.
Garrett-Miller is excited about the new digs.
“It’s going to be lovely,” she said.
