Two of the Pacific Northwest’s most popular bands will perform at the Maritime Gig Festival this year, according to the the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce.
Heart By Heart plays classic Heart hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s. Heart By Heart is a Seattle-based band consisting of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Michael Derosier and Steve Fossen of Heart, world-renowned guitarist Randy Hansen, radio icon Bob Rivers, northwest favorite Lizzy Daymont and powerhouse vocalist Somar Macek. Heart by Heart will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 on the Skansie Pavilion Stage.
Gig Harbor’s legendary Shy Boys will take the stage Sunday, June 8 at 3 p.m. to provide a fantastic finale to the Maritime Gig weekend. The Shy Boys play acoustic rock from the ‘70s and ‘80s with extraordinary energy. They have been voted into South Sound Magazine’s Best of the South Sound and Evening Magazine’s Top 10 Best of Western Washington each of the past three years. This will be the Shy Boys’ fourth appearance at the Maritime Gig.
Two stages will be in use throughout the weekend. On Saturday, Northwest Chill, a popular five-piece variety rock band will kick off the party at 12:30 p.m., after the Grande Parade. The entire family will enjoy the zany antics of Alex Zerbe, aka the “Zaniac,” at 5 p.m. Alex is a master of physical comedy, juggling and magic. Steve Stefanowicz, Gig Harbor’s consummate showman, will delight audiences at 5:45 p.m. with his unique blend of acoustic guitar, rich vocals and sharp wit. Other performances Saturday include the Kopachuck Middle School Jazz Band, the Key Peninsula Middle School Jazz Band, the Minter Creek Elementary Choir, and the Harbor Winds concert band with conductor Eric Swanson. On Sunday, festival-goers will enjoy performances by talented youth from Harbor Dance and the Peninsula Youth Orchestra.
