Lakebay Cemetery cleanup volunteers needed May 17

April 30, 2014

The Lakebay Cemetery Association asks volunteers to help with the annual cemetery cleanup. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the cemetery association’s start.

Those wishing to take part in the cleanup should meet at the cemetery, 222 Cornwall Road KP S, Lakebay, at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17. The work mainly entails trimming brush, grass and vines, so please bring yard and gardening tools and gloves.

At noon, the Cemetery Association will have its annual member meeting and lunch. Bring a picnic lunch and something to sit on. The Cemetery Association would like to draw new supporters who want to help preserve the cemetery, which represents an important part of the history and heritage of the Key Peninsula.

A tax-deductible financial contribution to help with the cost of maintenance is also appreciated. For donations, contact William Evans at 253-927-7609.
