HomeGoods opening store in Gig Harbor

March 12, 2014

Walls are going up for the final phase the Uptown Gig Harbor Shopping Center on Point Fosdick Drive NW.

That last phase will house HomeGoods, a 20,000-square-foot home furnishings and accessories emporium. The store is scheduled to open later this spring, a shopping center spokeswoman said.

HomeGoods is owned by Massachusetts-based TJX Inc., parent of Marshalls and T.J. Maxx clothing clearance stores.

Uptown Gig Harbor already is the site of a Marshalls, which moved into a space that once housed a Borders bookstore.

Borders closed all of its stores nationwide in 2011 when it was unable to find a buyer that met the standards of the company’s bankruptcy creditors.

The shopping center’s final phase is being built south of the existing Galaxy Theatre.
