The Beatniks to return for homecoming show

March 12, 2014

A band that has toured all over the country will play a special intimate show in the community where it all began.

The Beatniks, formed in Gig Harbor, will play Saturday at the Gig Spot, 6615 38th Ave. NW. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at www.thegigspot.com.

The doors will open at 7 p.m. for an autograph session. The show will begin at 8 p.m. Seating is limited in the renovated 121-seat venue.

The Beatniks have a resume that includes performing at Seattle Mariners’ and Seahawks’ games. The group will put on a show that will feature a question-and-answer session, stories and music career advice.

The lineup, which has been the same for more than 15 years, includes Bobby Beaulieu, Rick Lovrovich, Mark Nelson and Jon Bolton.

“We wanted to give back to the community and a venue that gave many of us our first start,” Beaulieu, the lead singer, stated in a news release. “Decades ago, this building was where Rick and I first played on stage growing up. It gave me the confidence to perform.”
