Washington senators both support a deal with Iran

Gig HarborFebruary 26, 2014

As a Washington state voter who doesn’t want another war, I am proud that both U.S. Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell have pushed back against a rush toward new sanctions in the Senate, which could sabotage the historic first-step nuclear deal with Iran.

As Murray wisely pointed out in a recent constituent letter, “the Administration should be given time to negotiate a strong verifiable comprehensive agreement.”

When Cantwell was asked about the Senate sanctions legislation (S. 1881), she said, “I think for now it’s appropriate to wait.”

I hope our senators will continue to push against new sanctions and support the ongoing diplomatic efforts with Iran.
