February 12, 2014

The United States Golf Association and Chambers Bay Golf Course announced Monday that volunteer applications for the 115th U.S. Open Championship are now available.

The U.S. Open will be held June 15-21 at Chambers Bay in University Place.

About 4,500 unpaid volunteers will be needed to fill positions on 24 committees, including hospitality, leaderboards, marshals, merchandise and spectator services. Those assigned will be required to work a minimum of four shifts, five to six hours each.

Volunteer positions will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Those who fill the positions will be required to purchase the volunteer package for $165. It includes apparel, event credentials and a meal voucher for each shift.
