Citizens help to improve community visioning process

Chairman, Gig Harbor Planning CommissionFebruary 12, 2014

On behalf of the Gig Harbor Planning Commission, I would like to thank those members of the community who attended the open house at the Gig Harbor Civic Center and those who spoke at the public hearing which followed.

The event was sponsored by the Planning Commission to introduce a set of draft goals and policies for “The Harbor” area. This draft is the latest step in the Community Visioning Process, which began in 2012 and follows the city council action last year that adopted a Harbor Vision Statement.

Approximately 60 people attended the event, which provided opportunities for discussions with commission and city staff members, and written and oral critiques and suggestions.

After a review of the comments, the Planning Commission will finalize the draft and forward it to the city council for adoption and incorporation into the city’s Comprehensive Plan.

Thanks again to all who participated; you will have made it a better product.

The Peninsula Gateway is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
