State Rep. Jesse Young begins legislative career in Olympia

February 12, 2014

It’s been a whirlwind month for Jesse Young, the 26th Legislative District’s newest representative.

Appointed to the seat on Jan. 17, Young started work on Jan. 20. The Legislature had already been in session for a week.

Young will sit on four committees this session. They are:

 • Community Development, Housing and Tribal Affairs

 • Early Learning and Human Services

 • Transportation

 • Government Operations and Elections, for which he is an assistant ranking member.

In his interview before a joint session of the Pierce County Council and the Kitsap County Commissioners, Young said he would like to be on the transportation committee.

State Sen. Jan Angel, R-Port Orchard, whom Young replaced in the House, sits on the Senate transportation committee.
