The Gig Harbor planning commission is looking for input on a new chapter of the city’s comprehensive plan.

The commission will hold an open house from 5 to 6 p.m. Jan 30 at the Civic Center. A public hearing will follow the open house.

Named “The Harbor,” the latest chapter in the comprehensive plan is the culmination of a vision for downtown developed in 2012. The chapter is a collection of policies and goals for the next 20 years. It sets 17 goals for the area, examples being bay views, public access and historic preservation.

According to the Harbor Vision in the drafted plan, “the Harbor is a place where people live, work, play, shop and explore.” The drafted chapter is the second step in the comprehensive plan update. Once adopted, these goals will become the policy will become a part of the overall plan. A draft of the chapter is available on the city's website
