Singer-songwriter to play benefit show in Olalla

A&E: ‘Good Time Charlie’s Got the Blues’ singer to play community hall Jan. 18

Dan O’Keefe will play a special concert to benefit the work of the Olalla Community Club.

O’Keefe had a hit — “Good Time Charlie’s Got the Blues” — in 1972. His songs have been covered by Elvis Presley, Jimmy Buffett, Nickel Creek, Willie Nelson and more. He released a new album, “In Time,” in 2008.

Originally from Spokane, he now lives on Vashon Island.

Tickets are a $20 suggested donation at the door or $15 in advance. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Olalla Community Hall, 12970 Olalla Valley Road Southeast. Advanced tickets are available at Al’s Store, 13965 Crescent Valley Road, Olalla.

The Olalla Community Club was founded in 1937. The club maintains the 110-year-old community hall and runs the annual Bluegrass and Beyond Festival. Funds the club raises go to support two food banks, music programs in schools and other activities.
