Gig Harbor swimming continues dominating season

Posted by JON MANLEY on January 14, 2014

A few notes to pass along, while I get ready to cover a big hoops game tonight between Peninsula and Enumclaw:

Gig Harbor swimming defeated Rogers 126-56 in Monday's swim meet.

The Tides continued their dominant season, and now sit at 6-0. Gig Harbor won all 12 events.

A few highlights:

– Erik Nielsen improved his season best time in the 50-yard freestyle with a 0:22.29.

– The Tides dominated the relays. Jones, Doane, J. Curtis, and Nielsen finished in first with a 1:46.47 in the 200 medley relay.

– Bastian Weyn continued his outstanding season on the 1-meter diving board, recording the winning score of 201.60.

Gig Harbor has a big league showdown with Stadium High on Thursday, at home, at 3:30 p.m., which I'll be covering.
