Twenty-five years from now, future Gig Harbor residents will get a glimpse of daily life from winter 2013.

The “A Day in the Life of Gig Harbor 2013” contest sent out photographers, amateur or not, into town to capture daily life. For a $5 entry fee, photos are subject to a public vote.

While all the photos will be archived by the Harbor History Museum, only the winners will go in a time capsule. Voting will close on Jan. 4.

One vote per email, per day, is allowed.

The event is hosted by the Gig Harbor Lighthouse Committee to mark 25 years since it was installed. The anniversary will be April 26, 2014.

Photos from the past are being featured at the Harbor History Museum through Jan. 4 in the exhibit “A Day in the Life of Gig Harbor — photos from 1987.” A second contest will be held in February or March.

Entries can be viewed at www.photoscramble.com/contests/a-day-in-the-life-of-gig-harbor-2013.
