Those who complain should relax and enjoy the season

Gig HarborDecember 25, 2013

I have never written a letter to the editor in my life, but the last two issues of the Gateway have had comments in it that I must address.

So I now put my pen to paper, and with that remark, you will guess that I am old.

Two weeks ago, someone wrote a letter to the editor about how upset they were with the signs in the Gig Harbor Post Office that tried to get our mailing business.

Then, in last week’s Cheers & Jeers column, a person was upset about the nativity scene at the base of the Christmas tree at Skansie Brothers Park.

This is what I have to say to both parties: calm down.

This is the Christmas season, when some religions and cultures celebrate the birth of Jesus.

And the U.S. Post Office needs our business to stay in business.

This is also what America is about — diversity.

Please let us live in peace and stop this anger.

The Peninsula Gateway is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
