Life jackets available for loan year-round

Gateway staff reportDecember 4, 2013

Three life jacket loan stations are open around Gig Harbor. The city has partnered with Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One and the Washington Boating Commission to set up locations where boaters can borrow lifejackets and return them when their trip is over. The locations are open 24 hours a day, all year.

Stations are at:

 • Jerisich Dock, 3211 Harborview Drive.

 • Eddon Boat Dock, 3805 Harborview Drive.

 • Maritime Pier, 3003 Harborview Drive.

A 2008 Coast Guard report found 90 percent of drowning victims were not wearing life jackets. The loaners are available to all boaters.
