Several nights ago, I received a phone call from a “research” outfit called Mountain West Research Center, located in Pocatello, Idaho, concerning my views on the 26th Legislative District election.
The conversation started out “normal” for political questions — How often do you vote? How do you vote? What party do you usually align with? — I indicated I’m an Independent, but was leaning toward Jan Angel, a Republican.
With that statement, the questions turned to statements about Angel, and they were highly negative. In fact, the statements made her sound like the leader of the second coming of the Apocalypse — horses, fire and all.
No questions or statements were asked about my feeling toward Nathan Schlicher. In fact, it seemed like the questioner wasn’t really interested in my opinion about the candidates. They just wanted to spread completely unfounded negative statements about Angel.
It was the second time that outfit called me in the past three weeks.
I called the Schlicher campaign manager about it, and she repudiated any connection to their campaign, but it raises questions about Schlicher supporters.
Let’s not worry about their tactics and vote for Angel for the Senate post.
