I want to respond to the letter to the Editor regarding my votes as your state Representative (Gateway, Oct. 2).
I feel it is critical that I am always truthful with you. I have saved all my floor bill books and can tell you why I have voted on bills as I have.
I did not even vote on one of the bills the letter writer referred to, as it died in the Senate committee and never even came to the House.
The letter writer mentioned the same bills I know you have recently seen on campaign materials, distorting the votes I have taken over the past five years while serving you in the House.
Bills often contain numerous issues and topics. The title of a bill may be far different than the issues actually in the bill. A bill may have multiple votes on it as it is changed and amended.
Over the past five years, I have taken thousands of votes. In 13 sessions, I have only missed votes on one occasion, when an unexpected special session was called.
I stand on my voting record and would be happy to discuss any questions you may have on any bill I have voted on. Please feel free to call me on my personal cell phone at 360-204-0776.
