The public is invited to attend the Sounding Board Toastmasters Spooky and Scary-themed open house from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 3 at Merrill Gardens, 3213 45th St. Court, Gig Harbor.
The guest speaker will be Sherrie Kenyon, district governor of District 32 Toastmasters.
“Toastmasters is a great way for people to communicate with confidence and be able to get your point across clearly,” said Eadie Kaltenbacher, club vice president of public relations. “It also gives you an opportunity to form volunteer leadership roles and learn other valuable skills.”
Along with listening to speakers and meeting other members, the evening will include other regular components from Toastmaster meetings such as Table Topics (impromptu speeches) and evaluations.
“Table Topics are one of my favorite parts of the meeting,” Kaltenbacher said. “Guests and members are randomly selected to speak for one or two minutes. It helps you think and speak clearly on your feet.”
The club meets from 7 to 8 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month. The open-house time is extended to include a discussion on membership and its benefits. Welcome packets and other information will be available. Guests are invited to attend and observe any meeting.
