There is a broad network of help and resources available to individuals and their families in the Gig Harbor and Pierce County areas.
“This is a family disease, but you are not alone,” said Keri Pollock, Washington state Alzheimer’s Association communications director.
Website resources include alzwa.org and a 24/7 Helpline at 1-800-272-3900.
There is a local support group for caregivers at the Gig Harbor United Methodist Church, 7400 Pioneer Way in Gig Harbor. The group meets from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month.
Interested people must call facilitator Karen Hyde at 253-279-0754 before they attend.
