Harrison Medical Center officially became the seventh hospital associated with the Franciscan Health System last week. The system includes St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor.
“This is a historic day for Franciscan, Harrison and the community,” Joe Wilczek, CEO of Franciscan Health System, said in a statement last Wednesday.
Harrison and Franciscan announced their affiliation last October. The agreement will allow Harrison to run as a secular nonprofit community medical center.
Franciscan has six other medical facilities along with primary-care and specialty-care clinics. Franciscan has ranked among the Top 100 Integrated Health Networks in the nation annually since 2004.
Harrison Medical Center provides care to patients from Kitsap, north Mason, Clallam and Jefferson counties. It is equipped with a 24-hour emergency care and trauma care, cardiac care, cancer care, inpatient medical and surgical care, imaging services, outpatient surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics and a sleep center. More than 400 medical staff employees work at Harrison.
