The hours of operation for the Bischoff FISH Food Bank on the Key Peninsula will have reduced hours beginning Thursday.
The hours, as approved by the FISH Food Bank board of Pierce County, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3 to 7 p.m. Fridays and 2 to 6 p.m. Saturdays.
Beth Elliot, executive director of FISH Food Banks of Pierce County, said the move brings the Bischoff Food Bank into uniformity with the rest of the Pierce County FISH branches.
Elliot said the hours were too long, and the food bank was not sustainable. The board originally considered cutting operations from six days to three, but did not make that move after it considered the unique transportation challenges on the Key Peninsula.
