Update, 11:20 a.m.: Police have taken a man into custody near 54th Street and Sheridan in Tacoma after the suspect fled the Gig Harbor scene and led officers on a lengthy chase.
Earlier: Pierce County Sheriff's deputies and Gig Harbor police officers are looking for a man in the Cromwell area after a deputy-involved shooting incident Friday morning.
A deputy attempted to make contact with a man just after 10 a.m. when the man attempted to run over the deputy and the law enforcement officer opened fire, according to police. The incident occurred in the 7000 block of 56th Avenue Court Northwest.
The deputy reportedly fired five times and may have hit the front windshield of the vehicle, which was reported to be a white 2003 Infinity.
Deputies were attempting to make contact regarding an investigation of a potential marijuana growing operation in a house that may have been abandoned in the Cromwell area. Many weapons were found inside the garage of the house, according to police.
A suspect was located in a black dodge pickup and has led police on an extensive chase through Gig Harbor and into Tacoma.
