Feb. 19 — A suspect in a recent Purdy pharmacy burglary for which he admitted to deputies stealing more than 20,000 pain medications is wanted for trying to obtain Oxycontin illegally. The Safeway pharmacy on Point Fosdick Drive reported the attempted passing of a forged prescription note that was reportedly stolen from a Kitsap County dentist’s office. The male suspect was identified by pharmacy employees after they saw a photo lineup. Law enforcement officials unsuccessfully attempted to contact the man at his Key Peninsula home. There is probable cause to arrest the suspect.
Feb. 19 — A man called police after he discovered a business vehicle had been broken into by someone who may have used a crow bar to pry the lock on a van. The unknown suspect reportedly stole a GPS and a company gas card.
Feb. 19 — Police investigated a theft report of a ladder from a man’s truck at the Office Depot in Gig Harbor North. The victim told police he had parked his truck and gone into the store, and when he returned, he saw a man take the ladder from his truck, place it into the bed of another truck and drive off. The store employees recognized the suspect, who left his name and phone number on the fax cover sheets inside the store. The police officer used the information to call the suspect at his home. The suspect admitted he stole the ladder, and he brought it back to the store. The man was cited for third-degree theft.
Feb. 20 — An officer on patrol was dispatched to a truck that was reportedly off the road near the intersection of Skansie Avenue and Hunt Street. When the officer arrived, they found a man standing near his pickup truck. The man failed sobriety tests and was booked into the Pierce County Jail on DUI charges.
Feb. 21 — A 56-year-old woman was stopped in the 6900 block of 46th Avenue after an officer clocked her going 68 mph in a 35 mph zone. When the officer made contact with the woman, he could smell alcohol emanating from her. The woman was arrested and processed for DUI after she failed several tests. Her blood-alcohol content registered above the 0.08 percent legal limit. The woman was cited and released to her father at the Gig Harbor Police Station after she was given a court date to answer to DUI charges.
Feb. 19 — A woman called 9-1-1 to report the theft of an ID badge from her 2003 Ford F-350 pickup truck after someone broke a window on the truck. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Feb. 20 — Deputies took a report from a man regarding a car prowl in the area of 19th Avenue Court NW. The man said he was using his step-father’s Scion car and had stayed at a friend’s house overnight, when the unlocked car apparently had been accessed. Someone reportedly stole $5 in coins as well as some college books, an iPod Nano and other items. There have been other car prowls reported in the area by other victims. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Feb. 20 — A man called 9-1-1 to report an apparent hit-and-run accident to his parked 1990 Ford Escort car. A 1991 Subaru car was found with car-to-car paint transfer damage and was unoccupied and sitting in the victim’s driveway. The registered owner of the Subaru was not located by the responding deputy. People who know the alleged suspect told of a party the night before that broke up at 3:30 a.m. The suspect reportedly was intoxicated when he left the party. Investigators were looking for the suspect at the time of the report.
Feb. 21 — Deputies responded to a hit-and-run assault in the Longbranch area. An elderly couple reported they had been following a slow-moving 1998 Acura car that was occupied by a female driver. The woman pulled to the soft shoulder of the Key Peninsula Highway to let an elderly couple pass her in their Toyota Prius. Then the woman reportedly began to tailgate them and rammed their car several times. The suspect then followed the couple into their neighborhood, where she reportedly rammed the couple’s car again. The suspect was found in a nearby ditch with her car, and she reportedly laughed about the incident when a deputy asked her about it. No injuries were reported. The woman was transported to and booked at the Pierce County Jail on four counts of second-degree assault with a motor vehicle.
Feb. 23 — A custodian at a public school on Kopachuck Drive called 9-1-1 to report the vandalism of grass fields at the school. The custodian said a suspect is a white man, late teens or early 20s, who drove a white Ford Explorer SUV. The custodian attempted to stop the suspect but was nearly clipped by the driver as he sped off the campus. The custodian was unable to obtain a license plate number of the vehicle.
