There’s nothing that sparks the holiday spirit like the sound of music. And Gig Harbor and the Key Peninsula will offer plenty of venues to please musical palates. Whether it’s the melodious sound of tinkering hand bells, the ancient rhythm of a harp as it responds to human touch, or just the soothing harmony of voices coming together in song, there will be plenty of concerts for music lovers to relax, enjoy and revel in the season’s festivities.
The Friends of the Key Center Library will host Philip and Pam Boulding, founders of Magical Strings, for a free holiday concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 10 at McColley Hall at the Key Peninsula Lutheran Church, 4213 Lackey Road KPN in Lakebay.

GHPSO will host its annual holiday concert program featuring popular local organist Jeff Orr, the GHPSO Brass Quartet, dramatic soprano Meg Daly of Seattle Opera fame and a seasonal sing-along.
The concert will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 7701 Skansie Ave. in Gig Harbor.

Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church will host two concerts this season.
The Festival of Christmas Concerts will feature the talents of the Chancel Choir, handbell choirs, band and orchestra. The concerts will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 and at 3 p.m. Dec. 13. at the Peninsula High School auditorium, 14105 Purdy Drive NW in Gig Harbor. Admission is free.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a concert of sacred and joyful Christmas music performed by choirs and ensembles from six area congregations and a combined LDS choir.
The free event open to the public will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at 8002 Dorotich St.
This new event will bring neighbors together for a free community caroling event sponsored by the Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association with caroling led by Discovery Baptist Church Choir.
The caroling will begin at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at Skansie Brothers Park along Harborview Drive in downtown Gig Harbor. At 8:20 p.m., Gig Harbor will welcome the Argosy Cruise Christmas ship, and caroling will continue from the water.
The Gig Harbor Peninsula Civic Orchestra will hold a concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Peninsula High School auditorium, 14105 Purdy Drive NW in Gig Harbor.
Music will include Peer Gynt Suite No. I; Morgenblatter Waltz medley; Morning, Noon and Night in Vienna Overture; Early One Morning; Selections from Oklahoma; A Christmas Festival; Around the World at Christmas Time; and A Christmas Hymn.
