GH Riptides Youth Wrestling Camp in late July

The Gig Harbor Riptides will host a youth wrestling camp from 6 to 8 p.m. July 23-27.

Skate camp coming this month on the Key Peninsula

Key Pen Parks and All-A-Board Skate Shop will present a skate camp at Volunteer Park.

The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 27-31. Ages 4-10 will go from 10 a.m. to noon, and ages 10-15 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The cost is $60 for a week’s worth of instruction. Helmets are required.

Hip hop dance camp at Gig Harbor High School

A Hip-hop dance camp will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 3-6 for students entering grades one through 12 at Gig Harbor High School.

Seahawks wrestling camp in early August

There will be a Peninsula Seahawks wrestling camp from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 4-7 at the Peninsula High School main gym.

The camp will feature several former college wrestlers, including Gene Mills, a two-time NCAA champion at Syracuse University.

Tennis program available for children this summer

The Peninsula Metropolitan Parks Department, Peninsula Athletic Association and the Fox Island Tennis Association will offer quick start tennis lessons for children ages 4-7 from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturdays at Hales Pass (Arletta).

Four-week sessions are planned during the summer. The cost is $45.

Gig Harbor Bulldog football and cheer turnouts this week

Football players who are looking to join a program can meet Travis Sims, a former running back for the Denver Broncos who is the Gig Harbor Bulldogs’ newest coach, from 6 to 8 p.m. on weeknights at Kopachuck Middle School in Gig Harbor.

Scholarships are available for players going into the seventh or eighth grades. No experience is necessary. For more information, call 206-214-5618.

Adult tennis sessions set for doubles, social groups

The Peninsula Metropolitan Parks Department, Peninsula Athletic Association and the Fox Island Tennis Association will offer an adult tennis and social gathering on weeknights during the summer.

Men’s social doubles will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, and women will play from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.

The cost is $45 for each four-week session. Balls are provided.

Peninsula High youth football to hold speed, agility sessions

The Peninsula High School youth football program will host speed and agility sessions from 8 to 9 a.m. or 6 to 7 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from July 6 through Aug. 7 at Roy Anderson Field.

The cost is $90. Those in grades three through 12 are eligible to attend.

Junior golf camps at Canterwood golf course

There will be three different golf camps this summer at Canterwood Golf & Country Club for varying ages.

Ages 12-16 (Monday through Friday): 3 to 5 p.m. July 20-24. Cost is $160.

Ages 8-11 (Monday through Friday): June 29 through July 3; Aug. 3-7 (girls only); Aug. 4-8 (advanced); Aug. 10-14. Hours vary. Cost is $150 per camp.

Ages 5-7 (Wednesday through Friday): 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday and Thursday; 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, golfing day.

British soccer camps coming to Volunteer Park on the KP

There will be a three British soccer camps at Volunteer Park on the Key Peninsula this summer for various age levels.

A soccer ball and T-shirt will be handed out. Children must be registered 45 days before the camps begin.

There will be a free British soccer jersey when children are registered online at www.challengersports.com.

The camps include:

Ages 3-4: First Kicks will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 on Aug. 3-7. The cost is $60.

Ages 4-5: Mini Soccer will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Aug. 3-7. The cost is $75.

Ages 6-15: Player Dev (half day) will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 3-7. The cost is $100.

Skateboard camp set at Gig Harbor Skate Park

Learn basic techniques of skating from instructor Seth Ivers and further develop skills during a camp next month at the Gig Harbor Skate Park.

The camps will run from Aug. 3-7 or Aug. 10-14. Those ages 6-10 will participate from 10 a.m. to noon; ages 11-16 will go from 1 to 3 p.m.

The cost is $65 and includes four sessions at the Gig Harbor Skate Park.

Gig Harbor Boys & Girls Club camps this month

The Cheney Family Boys & Girls Club will host a summer camp from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 6-31 at Discovery Elementary School, 4905 Rosedale St. in Gig Harbor.

The cost is $90 per week; $60 for those who qualify for reduced lunch; $30 for those who qualify for free lunch.

The HOPE Center Boys & Girls Club will open in September.

Sounder FC soccer camps scheduled in the harbor

The Peninsula Metropolitan Parks Department and the Peninsula Athletic Association will sponsor the first soccer summer camps through the Major League Soccer Club Seattle Sounders FC.

The camp is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 10-14 and will be at the Sehmel Homestead Park soccer field. The alternative site is Goodman Middle School.

Registration must be done at www.soundersfc.com. The cost is $150 for the half-day camp.

Family Fun Fest scheduled for Sehmel Homestead Park

The second annual Family Fun Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 29 at Sehmel Homestead Park in north Rosedale.

The festival will feature three-legged races, balloon tosses, bat spin relays, temporary tattoos, giant air-filled play toys, carnival games, bocce ball, volleyball and more.

The PenMet Foundation will host beverages, with proceeds benefiting the foundation and its projects.
