Key Peninsula’s annual Livable Community Fair was judged Saturday as one of the best attended and most successful yet.

A new feature was the “Touch a Truck” event at the Key Peninsula Civic Center parking lot, where heavy equipment from the Pierce County Public Works Department, Key Peninsula Fire Department, Peninsula Light Company, Key Pen Parks and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department was on display.

Among many other participating organizations were the state parks department, Gig Harbor-Key Peninsula Habitat for Humanity, the Key Peninsula Lions, Communities In Schools of Peninsula, the Mustard Seed Project, the Compassionate Travel Foundation, Peninsula High School Band Boosters, Pierce County Conservation District, the Key Peninsula Historical Society, Pierce County Public Works, the Farmers Market, the Lakebay Fuchsia Society, Tacoma Community College, the Key Peninsula Community Council and the Key Peninsula Community Services Food Bank.

A multitude of entertainment included the 50-member choir from Minter Creek Elementary School and the clattering rhythms of the Key Peninsula Cloggers group.
