Art Walk event this Saturday

The First Saturday Art Walk in Gig Harbor is scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. this weekend.

Visitors can pick up an Art Walk Passport at any participating gallery to be eligible to win a $50 gift certificate. Glenn Arche of Bothell won the April prize, which was donated by Ebb Tide Gallery.

During the Art Walk, artist demonstrations will be held at the following galleries:

Ebb Tide Gallery, 7809 Pioneer Way, 253-851-5293 — Featured artists: Marcia Hildebrandt, fused glass, and Rhene Johns, watercolors.

Gallery Row, 3102 Harborview Drive, 253-851-6020 — Featured artists: Karen and Norm Geiger, jewelry, and Sandy Newhouse, watercolors, acrylics and mixed media.

Kit Kuhn — A Jeweler Designed For You, 3104 Harborview Drive, 253-851-5546 — Kuhn will be forging sterling silver hollowware rings.

Water’s Edge Gallery & Framery, Inc., 7808 Pioneer Way, 253-858-7449 — Featured artist: Jim Nelson, photographer of landscapes, seascapes and nautical themes.

Birdnest Gallery & Framing, 7716 Pioneer Way, Suite A, 253-857-6341 — Featured artist: Giorgina Candelaria Wells, watercolors.

Harbor Gallery, 3177 Harborview Drive, 253-851-8626 — Featured artist: Yulene Brasel, calligraphy and watercolors.

For Art Sake, 8805 N. Harborview Drive, 253-858-8087 — Featured artist: Nancy Hewitt, acrylics on canvas.

Artists’ work will continue to be featured throughout the month.

New this year, the Gig Harbor Gallery Association will add an Art Evening from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays beginning May 7 through Aug. 27.

The additional weekday Art Evening will be in conjunction with the new series of Thursday evening sailboat races in the harbor. The Thursday races will be held throughout May and again in August.

The races will start at 6:30 p.m. at Arabella’s Landing Marina and race from Anthony’s Restaurant to the Tides Tavern.
