Ethan Celletti is a talented scholar who has excelled in several difficult classes and maintained a 3.92 grade-point average. He considers receiving scores of 5 on both the advanced-placement biology and chemistry exams as his highest high school achievements.
Celletti said he studied as much as he could for those classes, and the work has paid off. The scores put him two years ahead of the recommended College Board level.
Celletti’s teachers say he has a strong work ethic that pushes him to grapple with difficult material until he masters it. He likes to challenge himself, taking many advanced and honors classes, including three years of AP sciences.
“He is a high-achieving student with a drive to succeed, as shown by the way he challenged himself in academics and extracurricular activities,” said David Stitt, a Peninsula High School AP chemistry teacher. “Ethan is a student of rare talent and dedication ... he is an exceptional student who possesses the skills and desire to achieve highly at whatever he does.”
Celletti said one of his strong motivations was the desire to attend University of Washington, which has a top engineering program. Celletti said he plans to study computer engineering at UW, and he’s also exploring the idea of science research.
“I really like to work with computers, and I like to create and design things,” he said.
Celletti has shared his knowledge and passion for sciences with others. He has tutored peers in AP chemistry, and Stitt said he “always makes sure those who work with him are successful in their endeavors.”
Celletti also is an integral part of Peninsula High’s Knowledge Bowl team, which has been invited to compete nationally for the past two years.
Celletti recently received the coveted Eagle Rank from the Boys Scouts of America — the highest honor given by the organization. For his final project, he built a horseshoe pit at Penrose Point State Park, and he organized about 20 people to help.
“In addition to his academic excellence, Ethan is a caring individual who brings out the best in those around him,” Stitt said. “(He) has dedicated himself to the betterment of his community with his time and efforts.”
