Tall Ship ‘Amazing Grace’ looking for crew members

Gig Harbor’s “Amazing Grace” will sail from Gig Harbor to San Diego this fall.

For the first time, the Amazing Grace will welcome a limited number of crew positions for the trip. Departing on Sept. 20, the coastal cruise adventure will provide state-of-the-art navigation procedures and explore coast towns and islands while sailing with dolphins and whales.

PenMet Parks to host Family Fun Night Aug. 29

The Peninsula Metropolitan Parks Department will host the second annual Family Fun Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 29 at Goodman Middle School, 3701 38th Ave. NW in Gig Harbor.

The event will feature pony rides, carnival games, miniature golf and face painting, along with three-legged races, a balloon toss and a dizzy bat spin race. Other events include horseshoes, bocce ball and volleyball. Children will be entertained with a bounce house with a big slide, play toys and swings.

Volunteers are still needed for the event. Those who are interested may call 253-858-3400.

Kopachuck Park celebration will thank supporters

Preserve Our Park will host a celebration for the public’s effort of helping to save Kopachuck and Joemma Beach state parks durring a Family Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 13 at Kopachuck State Park.

Activities will include guided trail hikes, live music by Flannel Asparagus, face painting, food concessions and a hand-crafted “Thank You Tree.”

Sunnycrest Nursery to host New Zealand tour

Sunnycrest Nursery will host a trip to New Zealand from Jan. 8-22. The 13-day, 12-night escorted bus tour will start in Auckland, North Island, and end in Christchurch, South Island.

Early reservations are recommended. A $200 deposit is required, and the final payment is due no later than Oct. 15.
