Mallards Pointe Professional Center open for business

Tenants began to move into new office buildings off Wollochet Drive at the beginning of this month. Mallards Pointe Professional Center is located on Wagner Way behind Mallards Landing. The two-building professional center has been under construction for a little more than a year.

“So many people have seen it being built because you can see it from the freeway,” said Byron Nelson, one of the owners.

Nelson partnered with Jim Peschek and Todd Hardin to make up HNP Developers, LLC, which purchased the property about four years ago.

Peschek said the site’s proximity to state Route 16 makes it an ideal location for offices.

“You have great access in and out of Gig Harbor with the freeway exit,” he said. “And you’re just minutes from Skansie, Rosedale and downtown. Current tenants said what they love is the adequate parking and that they have no problem getting out on the Center City exit. We’re the only new building in Gig Harbor that has freeway signage, and that’s a big draw.”

Tenants in both buildings have commented on the quality of the building and the artsy design, Peschek said.

The structures boast muted woodsy tones with stone accents on the outside which continue into the interior along with curving wall features and a spiral staircase.

“People want character in a building,” Nelson said.

“The exterior design is Northwest craftsman lodge,” Peschek said. “It took us a while to come up with the colors and the concept, and this worked out really well.”

Six business tenants have moved into the two buildings combined, including a title and escrow company, a publishing company and a therapist. The rest of the building is still up for grabs in 500- to 5,000-square-foot increments.

Nelson and Peschek both are longtime Gig Harbor residents — and Peschek grew up here. They’re enthusiastic that the offices will have a draw on area businesses that want to be a little off the beaten path, yet close to it all.

“This whole thing has a Gig Harbor feel,” Peschek said. “The best thing is that it takes just a couple minutes to get to everything in the car, and when they come back, they can still have parking.”
