Hansons to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Allan and Sharon Hanson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 31.

The couple met in Seattle in 1953, attended Ballard High School and married at Crown Lutheran Church in 1959.

After he graduated from the University of Washington, Allan Hanson accepted a position in Honolulu, Hawaii, where the couple lived for four years, often referring to the time as their extended honeymoon.

In 1963, they returned to Seattle to raise their three children, Ann, Paul and Karen. They made their home in Gig Harbor in 1983.

All three children are married and live in the area. The Hansons also have five grandchildren.

Walters, Reff announce their engagement

Ellie Reff and Ryan Walters have announced their engagement.

Walters is a son of Theresa and Charlie Walters of Gig Harbor. He graduated from Bellarmine Preparatory School in 2002, received an associate of arts degree from Whatcom Community College and is currently a student at Bellingham Technical College.

Reff is a daughter of Pam Reff of Mount Vernon and Dave Reff of Bow. She graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 2006 and is currently a nanny in Bellingham. She attends Western Washington University as an elementary education major and plans to graduate in fall 2010.

The couple plans to marry in July 2010 in Seattle.

Dombek, Durkin announce engagement

Alissa Lynn Dombek and Cory Robert Durkin have announced their engagement.

Dombek is a daughter of Denise Dombek and the late George Dombek. She graduated from Peninsula High School and Eastern Washington University, and she’s currently employed at Doug Collier CPA and Associates in Gig Harbor.

Durkin is a son of Robert Durkin and the late Debra Durkin. He graduated from Gig Harbor High School and is self-employed as a general contractor.

The couple plans to marry in September and live in Port Orchard.
