United Church of Christ to host boat service, salmon bake

The Fox Island United Church of Christ will host two traditional annual events this month.

The first will be at 10 a.m. July 26 at the Chapel on Echo Bay, 400 6th Ave. on Fox Island. During the morning church service, boaters will raft up the bay and pedestrians will join the service in chairs on the waterfront garden.

The Community Salmon Bake event will follow from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Fox Island Fox United Church of Christ patio, 726 6th Ave. on Fox Island. Neighbors are invited to bring a side dish to share.

First Love Church to host Family Fun Days

First Love Church will host “Family Fun Days” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 26 at Harbor Ridge Middle School, 9010 Prentice Ave. in Gig Harbor. Child care will be provided.

A First Love Church gathering will begin at 10 a.m. and be followed by free games and food for all ages.

Activities include Sumo wrestling, face painting, a ping pong tournament, a bounce house, an obstacle course and giant glove boxing.

Harbor Covenant to host Vacation Bible School

Harbor Covenant Church will host a Vacation Bible School called “God’s Big Backyard, 2009,” from 9 a.m. to noon July 27-31 at 5601 Gustafson Drive NW in Gig Harbor.

Children in grades one through five will learn about serving Jesus in their homes and communities.

There is no registration fee, but offerings for missionaries and collections for the Gig Harbor Peninsula FISH Food Bank will be taken daily.
