The Gig Harbor Tides closed their regular season Thursday night with a 63-0 blowout against the Shelton Highclimbers in Narrows League play.

The Tides (7-1, 8-1 overall) have won eight straight since suffering a season-opening loss to the Olympia Bears.

Gig Harbor will host Federal Way at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Roy Anderson Field in a crossover playoff game with a berth to the state tournament on the line.

If the Tides beat Federal Way (7-2 SPSL South), Gig Harbor coach Darren McKay said they would probably face top-ranked Skyline in the first round.

Last Thursday, the Tides totaled 438 yards — 335 on the ground — to Shelton’s 86.

Gig Harbor quarterback Chet Thompson played the first half and finished with 95 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Tides running back Nico Youngren added 96 yards and two touchdowns.

Thompson also threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Austin Sefarian-Jenkins.

Defensively, Gig Harbor’s Tanner Davis and Dane Burki had interceptions. For the season, Gig Harbor has scored 332 points and allowed just 63, which is third in the state behind Olympia and Skyline, first.
