Marijuana plants seized at Canterwood residence

Published: 10:32AM March 26th, 2008

A 55-year-old Gig Harbor man was arrested and later released last week after 506 marijuana plants were seized from his property.

The illegal substances were found by Bremerton police and the West Sound Narcotics Enforcement Team on a 7-acre parcel west of the Canterwood Golf & Country Club.

The plants were housed in cabins and garages.

Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies were initially searching for a suspect in a hit-and-run crash in the Silverdale area.

According to news reports from The Associated Press, deputies said they followed a man walking to a house and then knocked on his door. When it was opened, they smelled the odor of marijuana.
