Oct. 22 — A call for assistance was requested by a Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputy who had terminated a vehicle pursuit due to safety concerns. The deputy exited Burnham Drive with all of his emergency warning devices off. The deputy located the suspect and his vehicle at the exit. The Kitsap deputy called for backup after he and the suspect crashed into each other. Gig Harbor police officers arrived at the scene to assist with traffic control when one of the officers heard the detained suspect break a rear window of the Kitsap patrol car. After securing the suspect, Gig Harbor police transported and booked the suspect into Pierce County Jail on felony eluding and first-degree malicious mischief charges.
Oct. 23 — An officer on routine patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with a trailer hitch that blocked the vehicle’s license plate. After the officer stopped the vehicle in the 6600 block of Wollochet Drive, they smelled intoxicants emanating from the driver. The driver was detained and cited for having a suspended driver’s license status due to unpaid tickets. He also was cited for not having proof of insurance. The officer then contacted a young female passenger who also smelled of intoxicants but denied drinking alcohol. She was given a field blood-alcohol content test, which registered 0.26. She was issued a citation for minor in possession and/or consumption of alcohol and released from the scene.
Oct. 23 — Police investigated a report of a party at a local home. When officers arrived, they found the home’s front-door glass covered with a blanket. Once they peered into other windows, the officers counted 13 underage children drinking and playing related games. Another officer could see other kids smoking marijuana on a couch. After they got a hysterical response from a teenage girl at the home, the officers entered the home. A group of the party attendees tried to run, but they tipped over a table in an effort to stop an officer from catching them. All the partygoers were detained, cited and released to their parents.
Oct. 23 — Police investigated an apparent hit-and-run accident reported by staff and witnesses of an area health club. A blue or black pickup truck was seen leaving the parking lot of the business at a high rate of speed before it struck and destroyed a light pole and drove away from the scene in the 10500 block of Harbor Hill Drive in Gig Harbor North. There were no suspects at the time of the report, although police were going to review several surveillance cameras in the area.
Oct. 25 — A police officer who was checking a sand pit near the 9600 block of Burnham Drive NW spotted a parked car without its lights on that was occupied by three juveniles. After questioning the driver and one of the passengers, the officer searched and found a bag containing 0.9 grams of marijuana. The minors had fashioned a homemade pipe from an aluminum can found in the car. A citation for possession of the marijuana was issued to the passenger.
Oct. 26 — Police arrested and booked a male shoplifting suspect into Pierce County Jail after he was caught and detained by store employees. The suspect reportedly stole tool attachments from the business and left the store, but he was questioned by an employee outside the business. The man told the employee he forgot his wallet in his vehicle, then he ran off. Several employees caught and detained the man. Police booked him for the theft and for a warrant for an old unrelated but similar crime.
Oct. 23 — A man called 9-1-1 to report an attempted theft of his car from his home’s driveway. An unknown suspect apparently put the vehicle in neutral and released the parking brake. The vehicle rolled 50 feet before it crashed into bushes.
Oct. 24 — A woman homeowner of a vacant Fox Island home received a call from her real estate agent concerning a windowed door that had apparently been broken. The homeowner told a deputy she may have seen a potential suspect pass her with what appeared to be a stolen garden cart found at the home. No license plate information was given for the possible suspect’s small black car.
Oct. 24 — Deputies took a report from a person at the Longbranch Improvement Club. The woman reporting party told the responding deputy it appeared a suspect broke two doors to gain access to the club’s liquor supply. There were no suspects at the time of the report. It was not immediately known how much liquor was missing.
Oct. 24 — A man called 9-1-1 to report the apparent break-in and theft of his 1960s-era guitar from his cabin. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Oct. 25 — A man called 9-1-1 after he discovered someone had broken a bus stop shelter’s glass pane. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Oct. 25 — A woman called deputies to report the theft of mail from her mailbox. The victim said her mail has been stolen for at least the past year. The woman said gift cards sent by relatives have not been showing up at her home. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Oct. 26 — The male victim of an apparent car prowl told the responding deputy his Ford Ranger pickup truck’s passenger window was smashed, allowing the thief to steal a camera. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Oct. 27 — A woman at a church told deputies of a possible theft of gasoline from the church group’s van. The fuel line was cut, but those on scene did not know how much, if any, of the vehicle’s fuel had been taken. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Oct. 28 — A woman homeowner told deputies she suspects her 23-year-old son of numerous recent thefts of video games and DVDs from her home. The victim told the deputy her son has served time in jail for previous thefts. The woman said the value of the stolen goods could as much as $2,000. Her son’s whereabouts were unknown at the time of the report.
Oct. 29 — A female victim told the responding deputy there appeared to be no damage following an apparent break-in of her 2009 Dodge Ram pickup. The woman suspected $40 had been stolen from the truck. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Oct. 30 — The male victim of an apparent break-in and vandalism to his unoccupied rental home told the responding deputy that sheetrock had been damaged. The unknown suspect apparently wrote numerous vile rants on the interior.
