Sept. 25 — A Lakebay man called police after he heard about a man who may have been selling stolen property. The suspect and another person reportedly tried to sell wire cutters, drill bit sets and a snowboard. The victim told the responding deputy that the items were missing from his shed.
Sept. 25 — A Lakebay man filed a report with a deputy concerning the theft of bundles of firewood from his driveway. The victim reported that he saw a suspicious vehicle in the area and jotted down the vehicle’s description and license plate. Deputies are looking for a 1989 Chevy S-10 pickup with the Washington license plate of B78015A.
Sept. 26 — Deputies took a report from a woman who reported a burglary at her home. The woman said many gardening tools were taken from her garage. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Sept. 26 — A man called 9-1-1 to report the theft of a portable generator from his front yard. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Sept. 27 — A Vaughn man told a deputy of the unauthorized use of his credit union-issued debit card. Two charges that totaled $1,100 were made before the victim closed the account.
Sept. 28 — A woman called 9-1-1 to report the theft of a “keep out” sign from her property. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Sept. 29 — A reporting party called deputies about potential vandalism of 14 freshly placed fence posts at Volunteer Park. A suspect then allegedly commandeered a motorized vehicle and used it to further damage the park.
Sept. 29 — A Lakebay man told a deputy his neighbor killed his dog. The deputy contacted the neighbor, who said he shot the female pit bull after she growled and charged at him while he was in his yard. The neighbor said he had been outside with his young daughter when he saw the dog running free in his yard. After he put his daughter safely into his home, he said he shot the dog with a .22 caliber rifle after it lunged at him. The dog reportedly ran away and was later found dead.
Sept. 30 — A Lakebay woman reported a possible theft of a hub cap from her green 1977 Mercury car. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Oct. 1 — A Fox Island man was critically injured after he slammed his 1995 Toyota 4-Runner pickup into the embankment at the end of Warren Drive NW near the Fox Island bridge. Investigators believe the man was traveling at a high rate of speed on Warren Drive, due to the 170-foot skid mark left on the roadway. The man was not wearing a seat belt and was extricated from the vehicle by a witness/bystander after the truck caught fire.
Sept. 25 — A man called police to report two church-going women who ignored “no soliciting” signs had contacted him to spread their message. An officer contacted the women and determined they understood and would obey the property owner’s request from that point forward. The officer determined no crime had been committed.
Sept. 25 —A man called police after he discovered lug nuts to his Ford Escort had been loosened. The man believed another man, whom the alleged victim has an anti-harassment order against, may be the culprit. No evidence at the scene could rule in or rule out the victim’s claims. Photos and a report were filed by the responding officer.
Sept. 27 — An unidentified citizen turned in a pink purse that contained only a rescue inhaler to an officer after they reportedly found the purse behind the fire station in the 3500 block of McDonald Avenue. The item was put into protective storage.
Sept. 28 — A man called police to report spray-painted vandalism to construction equipment on a city construction project. The words used were to be compared to other graffiti evidence to identify a possible suspect.
Sept. 27 — A City of Gig Harbor work crew reported a hit-and-run accident that occurred near Donkey Creek Park. The crew said they heard a loud sound but didn’t see the accident. Business owners on Harborview Drive were notified of the damage.
Sept. 30 — A skateboarder at the Gig Harbor skate park told police someone stole his iPod after he placed it under his hat.
