A two-car collision on Feb. 2 left three people seriously injured after an elderly male driver of a 2008 Nissan Altima crossed the center line on state Route 302.
The Altima collided head-on with a 1995 Ford pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old Lakebay girl near milepost 11. The impact caused the pickup to roll onto its top.
Key Peninsula Fire District 16 medics, along with mutual aid from the City of Gig Harbor and Kitsap County, transported the victims to Tacoma-area hospitals with serious injuries.
The cause of the accident was unknown. Investigators don’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
All of the victims were wearing seat belts. Traffic was diverted for several hours as police investigated the accident.
