Representatives of Taylor Shellfish Farms and the State Department of Natural Resources have been surveying the land at Totten Inlet in Thurston County.
The survey will determine to what extent, if any, Taylor farmed geoducks on state land.
The boundary dispute has been an issue for Taylor since last winter. The company has run into a number of problems lately, including Pierce County revoking its Substantial Shoreline Development Permit for geoduck farming at the Foss property on the Key Peninsula.
Taylor has maintained that any error in farming was inadvertent, and that the company operated along the same boundaries as the farmers who owned the property before Taylor Shellfish acquired it 50 years ago. The survey will be completed in mid-August. The financial and legal repercussions for Taylor are still unclear.
