Weapons, threats

July 26 — Police responded to a parking lot near Olympic Drive, where a man reported another man had driven by and threatened to beat him up. The man also threatened to kill him and his family. Two witnesses collaborated his story. The witnesses were able to give a name, description and license plate number. The suspect was later stopped by police. Weapons were found in the vehicle along with alcohol. The suspect was arrested and issued multiple citations.

Car prowl

July 26 — A man reported to police that his rear passenger window had been smashed out of his car on Point Fosdick Drive and a laptop computer has been stolen from the back seat. There were no suspects at the time of the report.

Beer smuggle

July 27 — A grocery store employee reported that he saw two young, white men steal beer from his store. He was able to give police a partial report on license plates. There were no suspects at the time of the report.

Drunk accident

July 27 — Police reported to a call on Borgen Boulevard, where an accident had been reported. Upon arrival, the officer saw the driver of the vehicle trying to fix a tire on the side of the road. The car had many dents from a collision with a curb in a roundabout. When the driver talked with police, his speech was slurred. He failed a field sobriety test and admitted to drinking a half-gallon of rum. He was arrested and issued a DUI.

Thrown to the curb

July 28 — A man was pulled over on Harborview Drive for driving at night without his lights on. When he pulled his vehicle to the side of the road, the man struck the curb. The police officer gave the driver multiple field sobriety tests, and he failed many of them. He also failed a breath analysis. He was arrested and issued a DUI.

Not so Good to Go!

July 31 — A man reported to police that his car had been stolen from his driveway. He saw online that his Good to Go! pass was used that morning. There were no suspects at the time of the report.

Earrings found

July 31 — An officer working at a concert at Skansie Brothers Park found a pair of gold earrings on the ground. The owner was unknown at the time of the report.

Mystery charges

July 25 — A woman called deputies when she saw multiple fraudulent charges on her bank account. The charges were made with the victim’s ATM card and pin number. The victim said she had the card in her possession. There were no suspects at the time of the report.

Camp heist

July 26 — An employee at Camp Seymour called deputies to report that another staff member had stolen more than $3,000 from one of the camp offices. In an interview, the suspect admitted to stealing the money. The suspect was arrested and the money was recovered.

Road rage

July 26 — A man reported to deputies that, while driving on state Route 302, a blue station wagon with three occupants tailgated him. When the victim pulled off the highway, the car passed him, got in the same lane and slammed on his brakes. When the victim went around the station wagon, it followed him, even when he increased his speed to more than 60 mph. The victim was followed to his home, where one of the occupants exited his vehicle “in a hostile manner.” The occupant got out ready to fight. The victim and a neighbor physically pulled the man back to his station wagon. The victim did record the license plate number. There were no arrests at the time of the report.

Multiple citations

July 29 — A deputy pulled over a vehicle when a records check showed the owner’s license had been suspended. The driver was not the owner but did have a suspended license. The driver also had no insurance and an expired driver’s license. He was given multiple citations at the scene.

Family hostility

July 30 — A man called deputies to report that his 16-year-old step-daughter had assaulted him. She hit him in the face with a closed fist and threw a wire rack at him. When interviewed by deputies, the girl said she wanted to go to jail and that her step-father looked at her in a sexual way. According to the police report, “she seemed overly dramatic (and) was very loud.” She was placed under arrest and transported to Remann Hall.

Double checks

July 30 — A local business owner reported to deputies that checks from her business were used in Florida in October 2007. An account was also opened in Florida under her business’ name without her approval. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
