July 8 — A man was walking along the road with a bag of fast food when a red Honda Prelude drove past, and someone from the vehicle grabbed the bag. The car drove off, and the victim did not see a license plate. The side mirror on the vehicle struck the man. There were three white men in the car, all about 20 years old. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
July 8 — An officer pulled over a vehicle he suspected might have been involved in the fast food theft. There were four passengers, all younger than 21. A box of beer was located in the back seat. When handcuffed, the driver admitted to having marijuana hidden in the vehicle. On a records check, it was also found that the driver also had two warrants out for his arrest. He was booked in jail and issued a minor in possession as well as possession of marijuana.
July 9 — An officer reported to a vehicle that had its passenger-side window smashed. An empty designer purse valued at $200 was stolen. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
July 10 — A man was pulled over because a records check showed he was driving with a suspended license. There were three passengers, all younger than 18. The vehicle strongly smelled of marijuana. One passenger admitted he had marijuana on his person, and more in the car. There was a scale, cash and almost 25 grams of marijuana in the vehicle. All four passengers were placed under arrest, and one was released to his parents. A cell phone was recovered that had text messages about other marijuana deals.
July 10 — An officer was dispatched to a local home improvement store, where a witness had reported seeing a woman walk out with unpaid goods. The witness stopped the suspect from leaving and called police. When the officer arrived, a records check showed the woman was also driving with a suspended license. The suspect was booked on charges of third-degree theft and driving with a suspended license.
July 7 — A woman reported to a deputy that she had left her credit card at a gas station and it was used twice without her permission. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
July 7 — A woman reported to deputies that a woman had called her home and said she was with the Credit Card Fraud Department. The caller knew a lot about the accounts and asked for additional information. Almost $400 was later stolen from the victim’s bank account. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
July 8 — A man reported to deputies that his mail had been lit on fire while it was in his mailbox. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
July 9 — A man called deputies when a vehicle was stolen from his driveway. The car was left unlocked with the keys in the ignition. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
July 12 — A deputy reported to a call on Purdy Drive by the Purdy Park & Ride, where a woman had been hit by a vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene, but a witness chased after the suspect. The witness gave deputies the location of where the man was headed. When deputies arrived, they arrested the suspect. The victim died at a local hospital shortly after she arrived. The suspect was charged with vehicular homicide, hit and run, driving with a suspended license in the third degree, plus a felony probation violation.
