July 7 — A man reportedly had seizure-like symptoms at a local pub. The man told paramedics he had a medical disorder, but that he hadn’t had seizures in a long time. After talking to the man and making contact with his doctor, the man was left with his friend.
July 8 — Firefighters responded to a report of a grass fire. They arrived to find a fire 150 feet by 150 feet that was being pushed by the wind. The fire was fought on two sides successfully. Firefighters stopped it from spreading further until it was completely extinguished. The renter who was living at the address of origin admitted he had started the fire using fireworks. Police were called to the scene, since it is illegal to use fireworks at the time.
July 9 — A man was sitting at a stop sign when his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle from behind. The motorcycle fell onto the man’s right leg. Paramedics found the man sitting on the side of the roadway. He showed no signs of injury to his head, but his ankle and knee were swelling from the fall. Paramedics secured the leg, and the man was transported to a hospital.
July 10 — Bystanders told firefighters and paramedics that a car traveling at a high rate of speed hit a 43-year-old female pedestrian, knocked her off the roadway and sped away. Paramedics found the woman unconscious with injuries. They provided full spinal protection and began monitoring her vital signs while transporting her to a hospital. She died shortly after arrival.
July 11 — Paramedics evaluated a man who was in the custody of police at the Gig Harbor police station. The man was in custody for the vehicular homicide committed the previous day. The man was complaining of pain in his right heel and foot. The exam revealed bruising to the heel and foot but no significant injury. The man was left in police custody and was transported for medical care by police.
July 12 — A man bent down to pet a dog in a veterinary clinic, but the dog lunged forward and bit him on the cheek. Paramedics found the man lying on his back in the clinic with several puncture wounds on his cheek and nose. The bleeding was stopped, except for slight bleeding from the nose, which the patient was able to control. He was released to his wife.
July 13 — Firefighters were called to a home, where the occupant had told them they thought a water main had broken inside the wall or under their home. The family had evacuated the house. Firefighters found that the volume on the stereo in the basement had been turned all the way up, and that the sound was just static from the stereo system. The family returned to their home.

July 5 — Firefighters from the Wauna station responded to the Purdy spit early in the morning to extinguish several driftwood and grass fires that had been left by citizens following fireworks celebrations.
July 5 — Firefighters responded to an Erickson Road residence for an automatic fire alarm. They arrived to find nothing visible and the home unoccupied. An investigation revealed that there wasn’t a fire, and firefighters returned to stations with no action taken.
July 6 — A man was transported to a hospital for wounds he said he suffered from an assault in Kitsap County sometime after midnight.
July 7 — A man arrived at the Home Fire Station with breathing difficulty following an allergic reaction. He was treated and transported by paramedics to a local hospital.
July 8 — Medics responded to a call of a woman in labor after the soon-to-be father reported the event to the Home Fire Station. The woman was rushed to a local hospital for delivery of the child.
July 9 — Medics responded to a teenage male patient who suffered a leg injury when a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle came to an end. The vehicle the patient was driving struck a guard rail on Wright-Bliss Road. The injury did not require further medical care, and he was taken into custody by Pierce County deputies.
July 10 — Firefighters responded to a small grass fire that was started by juveniles using illegal fireworks. Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies arrested one while firefighters extinguished the blaze.
