Gig Harbor’s Tom Drohan passes under the Narrows bridge spans Monday in his Navy surplus Wilard Marine Inc. 10-meter utility boat “Destiny.” Drohan has started Destiny Harbor Tours and offers rides around Point Defiance, Vashon Island, Gig Harbor and the Narrows. Today marks the one-year anniversary of the opening of the new Narrows bridge.

Nine years after it was approved by Washington State voters — and five years after construction began — the eastbound span of the new Narrows bridge opened to public use one year ago today.
