Nick S. Burrill of Gig Harbor, a senior at Bellarmine Preparatory School, was awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ first-place Certificate of Achievement and $75 on Thursday for his winning entry in VFW’s Voice of Democracy audio-essay scholarship program.

The account has been closed. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
