Power out after one-car crash in GH

of the Gateway

Published: 02:45PM March 27th, 2008

Power to some west side Gig Harbor residents' homes may be out until 5 or 5:30 p.m. Thursday after an RV collided with a pole.

The single-vehicle accident occurred just after 2 p.m. Thursday in the 8300 block of 86th Avenue NW in Gig Harbor. Power crews were on scene and expected to restore power within two or three hours.

No injuries were reported, although the power pole was snapped in half. The transformer was leaking fluid, which power crews were attempting to absorb with hazmat pads in order to prevent water contamination.

Gig Harbor Fire District 5 and power company crews responded to the scene, but the driver of the Ford E-350 toy hauler refused treatment.

Roads were expected to be closed between Rosedale Street and 96th Street NW until 5 p.m. Thursday.

No other damage was reported.
